Blooming time can be extended through removal of old, expired flower heads. ![]() Flower, Cone, Or Berry Facts : Flowers - In late spring, clusters of white flower heads bloom, and persist for several weeks. Turns beautiful shades of orange, red, and purple in the fall. Foliage Color & Texture : Deciduous broadleaf - matures as a dense, rounded mound with round to egg-shaped, dark green leaves with toothed margins that start in the spring. Soil Preference : Average to slightly moist & fertile - well drained. Sun Exposure : Full sun is preferred for best color display Growth Rate : Moderate ( 4" - 8" avg per year ) Mature Width : 2 - 3 ft ( responds very well to trimming ) Mature Height : 2 - 3 ft ( responds very well to trimming ) Blooming can be extended & maximized through the removal of old, expired flower heads. ![]() Also works well when grouped together in mass plantings for a true bright color display in late spring. The compact, semi dwarf size & shape of this spirea makes it an excellent choice for foreground or foundation plantings. These charming spirea are a great way to add a touch of color and may also attract butterflies!! This flowering shrub was originally native to Japan and eastern Asia. Best color & blooms in full sun, but will accept partial shade as well. Has a dense growth habit that can be sheared/trimmed to desired shape & size. Known for it's dazzling flowers that start as small, white, clusters that sprout and cover the spirea in late spring, and it's dark green leaves that are shaped differently then most Spirea varieties.
